Bedding down a log base to your boat.

Details:

Fitting your log base
Either from new or replacement the method is the same to bed down the log base.

First push the prop shaft through the hull and slide the log base down the prop shaft .
Support the coupling end of the shaft lifting it enough to counter its weight.
The shaft should normally be centred in the hole through the hull.
Slide the log base down the shaft until it lightly contacts the bottom and the prop shaft is centred in the log base still keeping it parallel with the prop shaft.
Then take note if there is any clearance between the boat and the log and if there is a gap either front or back pack it with washers to suit.
Drill for the 6mm hold down bolts.
Bed down the log base to the hull with a suitable filler or silicon and insert any washers if required on the bolts to gain a solid base and tighten the hold down bolts.

The final position should have the prop shaft central in the log.
Recommended to secure the log gland to the base after the prop shaft is fixed to the engine for best alignment.
